TROY -- Dancraft Construction Inc. is a regional winner in a national competition held by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). Dancraft and team member David Flannery, architect, won first place in the"Residential Exterior Under $75,000" category for the remodel of the Eberly home on Conwood Drive. The winners were recognized in March at NARI's Evening of Excellence held in Atlanta. Dancraft Construction was started by local resident Dan Swank in 1974. It specializes in kitchen remodeling and room additions. Dancraft was a winner in the NARI Region IV, which includes Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and Kentucky, in the annual Contractor of the Year competition. The winning residential exterior project resulted from the desire of Ken and Jane Eberly to have a place away from the family's hustle and bustle, which staying close enough to be connected, Swank said. That place, the Eberlys said, was envisioned as a quiet, sun-filled room that would be linked with a woods outside the residence. Swank and Flannery identified problems and obstacles from the residence's existing layout and architecture and designed a solution that involved the construction of a sun-filled room addition built just off the houseõs dining nook/kitchen. The architecture was carried through to the outside, where two "rooms" - a southern room with raised patio and trellis and northern room with a gas grille for the outdoor chef - were created for use by the family and guest, Swank said. |
